Catwalk Style for Spring/Summer 2014

If you're looking to recreate the catwalk trends for this Spring/Summer 2014 season, you can easily do it without breaking the bank. There are numerous key trends that can be worn right now if you keep your eyes open in the shops for the right key pieces. Some of the looks seen on the catwalks this season are:

£15 - here

We're not talking a string vest here. Instead think thin mesh, almost chiffon in style, layered over black vests or even a neon hue. One of the most popular colours on the catwalk this year was orange, so why not layer a mesh top over an orange vest, nailing two trends at once. Or perhaps wear a skirt with a sheer panel at the bottom of it, giving a little mystery to your outfit. Because of the layering you can do with this particular trend, knitwear will be playing a big part in bringing it to the non-supermodels among us. Look for mesh style knitwear from George at ASDA and you'll remain on trend at a fraction of the designer prices.

Skirts are going to get bigger. Think about the pretty, feminine lines of a tea length skirt and you've hit the nail on the head. Team with cropped tops and sandals or heels and slightly more demure shell tops to really work this look. You'll find these skirts in pretty feminine prints, or even in bolder fabrics, making the look more accessible to all.

The Classic White Shirt

Seen everywhere on the catwalks this year was the classic white shirt. This time around however there's a definite trend for pussy bows at the neckline and detailing like studded colours, contrasting stitching and asymmetric lines bringing the look right up to date.

Black is Back

But did it ever really go out of style? Black and white are back with a vengeance, being seen together in contrasting patterns all over the catwalks this year. Think geometric prints, bold stripes, asymmetric cuts and you'll be nailing this look in no time

The varsity jacket is still going strong in the world of fashion. Being seen in shows by Galliano, Victoria and others, it appears this nod to our American cousins isn’t going out of style any time soon. Also big news are tennis style dresses, sport luxe styles and even baseball caps, so in terms of fashion it clearly pays to be sporty.

Iridescent dresses, skirts and tops filled the runway this year, giving the wow factor to many a collection. Those who don't feel confident enough to go for a full on iridescent look could maybe try just a skirt with a plain top, or maybe even a bag or a belt in this style to show off the look at a level they're more comfortable with.

Whether you choose to take your idea of fashion from the catwalks or not, fashion is all about having fun and expressing yourself. If you can do that, you'll always be on trend.
